Lithium battery and the new energy industry it represents are considered the most important energy revolution of the 21st century. With the wide application of lithium battery technology in consumer, commercial and industrial environments, the safety of lithium batteries has received attention from end users and market regulators. In North America, different safety assessment requirements have been developed to characterize different application scenarios.UL 9540A is a test method for evaluating the thermal runaway fire propagation of energy storage battery systems. This method simulates the thermal runaway spread of energy storage batteries at the cell level, module level, unit level and installation level, maximizes the collection of data on heat release, smoke release, temperature, performance of the test object, etc., and uses the data to show the potential risks of thermal runaway spread of the system, which is widely recognized and adopted by the relevant authorities, and has become a landmark industry standard.
